Victory to Iran!
The British Chapter of Antifascist International condemns the imperialist aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran, headed by the United States and Israel.
The goal of the imperialist powers is to violently suppress any resistance to their continued exploitation of the world’s resources and oppression of its peoples. It is for this reason that United States has orchestrated coups in Ukraine, interfered in Latin American elections, kidnapped the President Maduro, criminally blockaded socialist Cuba, and threatened to seize Greenland and Canada by force. It is the reason they invaded Afghanistan and Iraq, and bombed Libya and Syria.
The war against Iran is a crime against humanity not just because it has been conducted against all international law, but because it is conducted with the objective to eliminate the government of a sovereign country that supports anti-imperialist struggles around the world. It has been long planned, by various means, to topple Iran as a piece on the board leading to war with Russia and China.
This war is a last desperate attempt by an imperialist alliance that brings together the most pernicious elements of contemporary history: the decaying American empire headed by the criminal Trump and the genocidal zionist settler-colonial state of Israel headed by Netanyahu, wanted for crimes against humanity. The unpopular governments of Macron in France, Merz in Germany, and Starmer in Britain are all considering whether getting fully involved in this disastrous enterprise is worth the cost, and if they could even win at all.
To emphasise the depravity of the imperialist system and echoing the horrors of the genocide in Palestine, 165 children and staff of an elementary school were murdered on the first day of these attacks by the US and Israel, among other casualties. The US and Israelis later revealed that, once again, the negotiations were just a stalling tactic while their forces moved into place.
We single out with particular emphasis the shameful role played by Sir Keir Starmer who has not only tried to justify this desperate and naked aggression, but has also placed the military resources of British imperialism at the service of the US and Israel for “defensive” strikes against Iran, including the RAF bases occupying Cyprus. There is nothing “defensive” about these strikes, the British ruling class that he serves are merely too spineless to admit their ambitions of conquest openly like Trump.
We call on the British working class, who likewise suffer under the imperialists, and the organisations resisting imperialism worldwide to unite as one to fight agains this insatiable drive to war, to counter imperialist war propaganda, to stop arms shipments and the development of technology used for war and genocide. We call for the withdrawal of all imperialist bases from the Middle East and Mediterranean, and to cease all support for the terrorist state of Israel.
On February 6, 2026, dockworkers from more than 20 countries and Mediterranean ports launched a “Day of Action Against War”. This 24-hour international strike protested the arms trade and the militarisation of ports for the purpose of imperialist wars. Trade unions across Europe joined the strike under the banner “port workers do not work for war!”, setting an excellent example for us to follow.
Only the defeat of imperialism will guarantee lasting peace for the region and can free ourselves and the world from war, exploitation, and oppression.
